Where life experience becomes literary expression

Mia’s love for the written word began at an early age. As a Colorado native, most of her childhood was spent perusing the closest Barnes and Noble or curling up in a chair with her favorite book. As an English major at Stanford University, she further developed her literary skills, culminating in her graduation from the prestigious Honors in the Arts program where she wrote the first draft of her novel, Color in the Lines. The novel, which was a finalist for the 2018 Hurston/Wright Award for College Writers, is Mia’s love letter to the Black family and a continued work in progress. She is currently writing a short story collection and regularly discusses her life as a writer and her takes on some of her favorite books. Mia is based in Boston where she lives with her college sweetheart and perpetual supporter, Devon.
